Cosmetic amendment made to the blank template version in which some cells reported an error due to not having any data to process.

December  2009  - (Version 3.1.2)

Minor adjustments have been made to the 'Print Year Group Summary' routines which prevent the printout of a few blank unpopulated pages if the year group is sorted prior to a print.

Adjustments to the Student Comment form to enable the full captions to be displayed even on small screens

June 2009  - (Version 3.1.1)

Additions to the self-repair routines have been added that will now fix sheets if a user has pasted data without conditional formatting into marksbook 2000 from another source.

In the exporting routine, the student's rank within the year group is now also calculated and exported.

May 2009  - (Version 3.1.0)

A Sub graph has been added to the principal chart showing the distribution of class grades. This small extra column adjacent to the appropriate bar on the main graph gives a pictorial indication of the position of the student within each grade type.

An 'Export Data' feature has been added to both versions of the software.  This allows the user to export a plain summary of student's names, grades, scores & comments for use in external databases.

December 2008 - (Version 3.0.1)

The departmental version of Marksbook 2000 had a slight streamlining of the code which allowed for the user to manually adjust the suggested cut-off scores put forward by Marksbook 2000

March 2008 - (Version 3.0.0)

The departmental version has been expanded to include a new page which has a scatter graph of all results, enabling the HoD  to see where the cut-off values naturally lie.  This page also includes a feature, in the registered versions, to dynamically update the cut-off scores according to a pre-determined percentage of the cohort that is set to achieve a target grade.

December 2007 - (Version 2.4.0)

The departmental version of the software, has been expanded to accommodate up to 10 streams!

August 2006 - (Version 2.3.2)

A new option has been added to the Print menu on the 'Master' page.  "Print Group Summery" will condense all the classes to a single A4 piece of paper and keep the current 'Sort' arrangement of the classes.

July 2006 - (Version 2.3.1)

A new icon has been added to the auto-letter.  This allows a teacher to 'lock' or 'unlock' the middle line of the auto-letter and thus preserve any global comment that may have been written.  It means that teachers do not have to re-enter this global comment after a Self-Analysis routine.

Additionally a small arrow (↑ or ↓)  will appear after the students number.  This indicates the most recent trend of the students results.  This is gained by a Z-Score analysis of  the last four assessments  the student completed.

June 2006 - (Version 2.3.0)

A new 'update' feature has been added.  If the user has a blank (template) registered version of  Marksbook 2000, then by clicking on 'Self Analysis' an option now appears to select other Marksbook 2000 files which the user may want to upgrade to the latest release without having transfer all the data manually.

April 2006 - (Version 2.2.2)

A new 'snapshot' function has been added.  A small camera icon appears at the top of the main page.  This allows the teacher to take and store a snapshot of the group's performance at various times throughout the course.  Up to five snapshots may be taken and recalled at any time.  Using this feature a teacher could easily recall any student's score or grade from previous points in the course.

A second new function has been added.  Any assessment can now easily be temporarily ignored or soloed.  By double clicking on a weighting it will be temporarily removed from the calculations.  Double clicking again will restore the weighting.  Right clicking over a weighting will cause ALL weightings except the current one to be removed.  These functions enable the teacher to analyze with ease the effect any particular assessment had on a student's results, or to analyze the distribution of results within any particular assessment.

March 2006 - (Version 2.2.1)

The larger departmental version of Marksbook 2000 has now been expanded to accommodate five classes instead of the previous four.

February 2006 - (Version 2.2.0)

A new feature has been added.  In the drop down menu for printing the reports, there is an additional option that allows the teacher to print out just a selected 'Range of Reports'.  This is more convenient that printing many individual reports and more efficient than printing a whole class of reports if they were not all required.

Additionally the teacher now has the option to print out any personal information that may have been noted about the students in the class when selecting to print a class list.

November 2005 - (Version 2.1.5)

A new feature has been added.  By double-clicking within the area for assessment descriptions, an information form will be displayed which allows the teacher to record extra information about a particular assignment.  Any editing of the assessment's existing title or weighting on this form will be automatically be reflected on the main sheet.

September  2005 - (Version 2.1.4)

The two 'Sort' buttons have been replaced with a dynamically updated label. This label simply makes it s little more clear as to how the students are being arranged.  This feature became more significant after a recent development which permitted the teacher to arrange the students according to their marks for any individual assessment if required.

August  2005 - (Version 2.1.3)

A background feature has been enhanced.  Marksbook 2000 is now self-analytical and it will detect if there has been any computer error in the critical cells.  The full reprogramming routine will not be executed unless an error is detected.  At the finish of the Self Repair analysis Marksbook 2000 will also report back to the user how many errors, if any, were found.

July  2005 - (Version 2.1.2)

A new feature added....

By double-clicking on the student's name a new information page is now displayed which allows the teacher to record miscellaneous notes and information regarding each student.  (E.g. Tel #, Address and other personal notes. )  Once such information is recorded a flag appears by the student's number to indicate that a comment or information has been recorded for this student.

June  2005 - (Version 2.1.1)

A new feature added....

The 'Sort' buttons provided have been of inestimable value to teachers allowing the teacher to sort the students according to their overall score or their name.   It is now also possible to sort a class of students according to any particular assignment.  Rather than proving an excess of small sort buttons the sorting is achieved by double-clicking on the heading of the assessment column, where the word "Ass." appears.  The column that is the subject of the 'sort' will appear in a red font.  This is reset when other sort methods are employed.

March  2005 - (Version 2.1.0)

There have been requests for many classes to be combined into one file for departmental use and analysis.  This has now been achieved with a new template for departmental use.  Up to four classes may be combined. All the global data is set on the Master page and then copied back to the individual class pages automatically.  All of the previous features remain available to the individual class teacher however it is also possible to print reports with reference to global or year group statistics.

The  automatically generated congratulatory comment has now been extended and a comment is  added for the top 25% of the students in the class.

As 'Levels 'become increasingly used alongside 'Numerical' assessments, teachers find themselves setting both forms of assessment.  Marksbook 2000 has always had the two modes of operation... Numerical and Level.  However, the 'Numerical' mode is now able to have both forms of assessment alongside each other.  The 'Level' assessment is marked as such and therefore removed from the calculation of a student's percentage grade, whilst still contributing the graph and the monitoring of the student's overall progress.

November 2004 - (Version 2.0.5)

An embellishment of a previous feature has been included;  Marksbook 2000 will record the date that a class set of reports was last printed.  Additionally, a note is now made (on-screen) indicating when a particular student last had a print out of their individual report.

It is now possible to display the upper and lower standard deviation limits on each student's graph if desired.  This is useful in establishing if a students fluctuations in performance are within 'reasonable' limits.

October 2004 - (Version 2.0.4)

A couple of 'housekeeping' features have been added.  When a teacher elects to 'Print a Whole Page', The titles of the assessments are now noted at the bottom of each column.  This makes it easier to identify which column relates to which assessment when working form the printed copy.  Also, Marksbook 2000 will report back to the user some general information regarding the registration details of the software and, for registered users, the number of days since a last complete class set of reports was made.

September 2004 - (Version 2.0.3)

Another  feature to encourage the students has been added.  In a student's academic report the students are now able to know if any of their assessments scored amongst the highest in the class.   In the table of assessments the following special arrow appears alongside any assignment which scored the highest in the class   --- :-) -->

August 2004 - (Version 2.0.2)

Some extra flexibility has been incorporated in to the use of the norm-referenced cut offs on the sliding scale.  It was discovered that some (very early) versions of Excel did not accept the input for the check box.  This has been amended and Marksbook 2000 is once again compatible with all the early versions of Excel.

July 2004 - (Version 2.0.1)

An extra button has been added on the right of the screen labeled "Write Comment".  This has enabled teachers to view the academic report for a particular student including all the graphs whilst writing an appropriate comment into the report for that student.

June 2004 - (Version 2.0.0)

Updates to the Spell Check functions have now been included for the student's comments in their reports.  Once the comment has been written it may be checked for spelling as it is entered into Marksbook.

There is also the option of checking all the comments at any time from the comment entry box.  The default language has been set for British English, although this may of course be changed by the user.
